Sennheiser Momentum Wireless 3 ANC Headphone – REVIEW

Read Time:4 Minute, 3 Second

Build & Design

There no denying that the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless 3 ANC Headphone feels of the upmost quality. The quality of leather that’s used on this headphone is on the level of Bang & Olufsen’s. It’s very supple and provides a lot of feedback when touched. At the sides, you’ll see those signature metal hinges that keep the headphone in tacked while providing tuns of flexibility.

When it comes to comfort the earcups do pivot and move to conform to your head so you won’t have any issue finding the perfect fit. When wearing this quality headphone for several hours you won’t have any discomfort, and thanks to the supple leather your ears won’t heat up or get fatigued if you wear at room temperature. But if you plan on using them outdoors or even at the gym you can expect them to heat and get sweaty.

On the right earcup, you’ll find what I call the command center with all the playback controls buttons. The ANC button has 3 modes, On and Off and Transparency mode. You can read more about the ANC mode below.

There’s also a multifunction button in the middle that when held down will give you a voice prompt of how much battery life you have remaining.

At the bottom of the right earcup, you will see a button to activate your voice assistant for Seri or Google.

NFC top to pair is still available on the momentum 3, plus a USB-C charging port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack for a physical connection.

Battery Performance

Battery life is rated at 17 hours of use which is on the lower end of the mainstream Active Noise Cancelling headphones. Most of the competition like the Sony 1000x M3  is offering up 20 hours of battery life on average. In real-world testing at 50% volume with Noise Cancelling turned on you will get 17+ hours of battery life.

Connectivity

The Momentum 3 offers the latest Bluetooth 5.0 technology along with a wireless range of up to 90 feet. Plus, when watching videos and movies on Netflix and YouTube there won’t be any delays or syncing issues. The audio is perfectly fine.

Additionally, this headphone is able to pair with 2 devices at the same time and the last device that you choose to play audio from, the headphone will automatically switch over to that device.

The Momentum 3 also sports auto pause and play. This means whenever you take the headphones off it automatically pauses and when you decide to put it back on, it automatically resumes your audio.

Find My Headphone

Sennheiser is partnered with Tile to create the Find My Phone feature. Tile is a company that’s known for making small keychain like tiles to track and find your items using your phone or tablet. They’ve added this same feature to the Sennheiser app to keep track of your headphone. With the use of your smartphone, you’re able to see where you last left your headset in real-time.

Transparency Mode

With the flick of a button on the right earcup or the using the app, the Momentum 3 turns on the microphones to pump in outside noise. This feature is called Transparent Hearing. Transparent Hearing allows you to hear all that’s happening around you for safety and awareness.

The Momentum 3 delivers one of the most natural sound experiences of any ANC headphone with Transparency Mode. One to note about this feature is that once Transparency Hearing is turned On, the Momentum 3 will pause the audio.

Active Noise Cancelling

ANC on this headphone is impressive. There is very little leakage of outside noise even in noisy environments. The ANC experience is up there with the best of the best, the differences are very subtle. But the Sony 1000x M3 still outperforms everyone when it comes to noise cancelling. In my opinion, when it comes to ANC Sennheiser has stepped their game up and only the Bose 700 and the Sony 1000x m3 are better.

Audio Experience

This headphone is not the loudest but it will get loud enough for most people to find enjoyable. The audio characteristics are very similar to the Bose 700.

But the Momentum 3 strives to deliver a much more balanced audio signature. You get punchy bass that’s not deep or strong. The mids are where this headphone shines producing clear vocals with a lot of detail and fidelity. The highs are sharp and precise without ever being ear ringing.

To Wrap Thing Up

Sennheiser has delivered an Active Noise Cancelling headphone that’s able to compete with the best on all fronts and I highly recommended giving these awesome Active Noise Cancelling Headphones.
