Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless Earbuds aims to compete with the best premium
Build & Design
At first glance, you will be quite impressed with the overall packaging even though the earbuds have a very basic design. They are pretty large in size when compared to similarly priced earbuds, so they won’t be as discrete in the ears. The large size means they will poke out the ears a fair fit, but on the bright side, they will fit inside your ears perfect and secure once you choose the right eartips.
Each earbud has touch-sensitive controls that let you swipe or tap to control audio playback. Every swipe or tap works extremely well on the first try. The earbuds have an IPX4 rating so they are protected from sweat and splashes of water.
Thanks to the auto connect feature the music will pause the second you remove an earbud and then continue to play the second you put them back in your ears.
I love the fabric covered charging case, it has a clean and understated design that looks and feels premium. This case is one of the best in terms of design and build quality. It opens easily and securely and snaps shut when not in use. It charges via USB-C which is a huge plus for any product nowadays.
Battery Life
Sennheiser claims up to 4 hours of battery life. But in real-world use, you can expect up to 3 hours and 50 minute which is pretty decent when compared to the competition. It’s not the best and certainly far from the worst when it comes to battery life.
The charging cause will give you an addition 8 hours of playtime or 2 extra full charges.
Connectivity
To enter pairing mode you take the earbuds out of the case and hold down the touch sensitive parts of both earbuds. Once you pair to your device the earbuds will automatically turn and connect to your device any time you take them out of the charging case.
These earbuds have the latest Bluetooth 5.0 technology so you get a seamless connection with no drops or stutters.
The earbuds also feature Qualcomm aptX low latency, which means that the audiovisual lag when watching YouTube videos on a newer phone, won’t be an issue.
Some customers have reported that the Auto Connect feature refuses to work. So the earbuds won’t turn on automatically when you remove them from the case or they won’t automatically turn off when you return them to the case. To get them to work, they have to turn them on by holding down one of the touch-sensitive pads on the earbuds.
Sound Quality
The Momentum delivers a pretty easy listening experience that doesn’t require must tweaking. But if you do want to tweak your audio you can simply use the EQ in the Sennheiser app to make adjustments.
The sound quality is top notch, thanks to Sennheiser’s solid signature sound. The bass is smooth with rich mids. The highs are extremely crisp so you’re able to hear and experience the sound separation and the detail of the audio.
Thanks to Transparent Hearing, your always aware of your surroundings, so it’s easy to listen and chat without having to remove your earbuds. High-quality noise picks up even in the noisiest environments thanks to two-mic beam technology.
